Dismantling traditional power structures is the work of equity. In recent years, policy groups increasingly engage impacted communities; likewise, grassroots organizers share their stories in new spaces. New state- and national- collectives bring these groups together around important issues. Child Care NEXT and Towards Equitable Electric Mobility (TEEM) are two initiatives who intentionally bring together grasstops and grassroots groups to build shared agendas centered in equity. Both launched in the last two years, these new initiatives invested in learning about how they bring diverse perspectives together and confront the disproportionate power they enter with. Participants will hear two case studies, one for each initiative, and leave with a deep understanding of the approach for each evaluation and lessons learned about what it takes to build collective power.
